Why Volunteer?
Volunteers are a big part of helping to accomplish the vision and mission of PEARL Life Renewal. Volunteers share their hearts, gifts, compassion and time in many ways including:
- Creating healthy support systems for participants
- Providing diverse knowledge, experience , and skills to support staff and participants.
- Education the community on sexual exploitation and promotion of PEARL.
- Participating in the ” behind the scenes ” work of administration, program development, research, facility maintenance, event planning and fundraising
- Experience personal growth as a result of helping others to change and grow
Volunteer Process
1. Initial Connection and Registration
Volunteers from all walks of life have something valuable to offer, in their gifts, serving and advocacy which can make an undeniable impact in the lives of others! Only women over the age of 21 can volunteer with our participants. Agreement to criminal records checks and provision of personal references is required.
2. Screening and Interview
All applications are screened including the review of a criminal records check. Interviews will be conducted with prospective volunteers, after which references will be contacted. Accepted volunteers are encouraged to serve in areas that match their gifts or specific skills. You will be asked to sign a volunteer waiver, after reviewing the volunteer handbook.
3. Training
Training helps empower volunteers with the necessary skills and knowledge in their service areas. Therefore, it is mandatory that all new volunteers complete required training to empower, educate and support in their role with PEARL.
4. Orientation to Volunteer Role
As a volunteer, you will be oriented to your specific role at PEARL. You will be introduced to your Volunteer Coordinator, place of work, and placement expectations after you have completed the required training.
5. Ongoing Support and Evaluation
We want all volunteers “plunged” into a productive and meaningful opportunity! To accomplish that, support and annual refresher training will be offered, We also welcome volunteer feedback to improve our volunteer program. regular performance evaluations will also take place to help you continue your growth.
6. Appreciation
We value volunteers’ giving, commitment, time and efforts in promoting PEARL’s mission! PEARL seeks to create a culture of gratitude for the valuable service and contribution of its volunteers through acknowledgement and recognition regularly.
